Andacht – Blühen und Fließen

 

Jesus betet: Ich habe ihnen die Herrlichkeit gegeben, die Du mir gegeben hast. Joh. 17,12

 

Ein Mönch hatte einmal zu mir gesagt: „Ein Pfarrer muss wie ein guter Gärtner die Rosen oder Bäume gut beschneiden. Nur dann wachsen sie gut.“ Ich war mir nicht genau sicher, was er damit meinte. Ein anderer Mönch, von einem anderen Kloster, hatte einmal zu mir gesagt: „Das Wort Autorität kommt von dem lateinischen Wort augere, und das heißt vermehren.“ Das hat mich mehr angesprochen. Wenn ich andere Menschen in meiner Umgebung unterstützen kann, inspirieren kann, dann baut sich etwas auf, und oft kommt auch etwas zurück. Letztlich ist alles Gnade: Wir sehen oder spüren vielleicht, was an Gutem wächst, und wir hoffen, in aller Demut, dass es auch bei uns, in unserer Umgebung wächst. Lass es blühen, lass es fließen!

A monk once said to me, „A priest, like a good gardener, must prune the roses or trees well. Only then do they grow well.“ I was not exactly sure what he meant by that. Another monk, from another monastery, once said to me, „The word ‘authority’ comes from the Latin word ‘augere’, and that means: to increase.“ That appealed to me more. If I can support others around me, inspire them, then something builds up, and often something comes back. In the end, everything is grace: we might see or feel what good grows, and we hope, in all humility, that it also grows in us, in our surroundings. Let it blossom, let it flow!
