Andacht – Die Macht des Schöpfers

Er thront über dem Kreis der Erde, und die darauf wohnen, sind wie Heuschrecken; er spannt den Himmel aus wie einen Schleier und breitet ihn aus wie ein Zelt, in dem man wohnt; er gibt die Fürsten preis, dass sie nichts sind, und die Richter auf Erden macht er zunichte: Kaum sind sie gepflanzt, kaum sind sie gesät, kaum wurzelt ihr Stamm in der Erde, da bläst er sie an, dass sie verdorren, und ein Wirbelsturm führt sie weg wie Spreu.

Jes 40,22-24

Wir lesen diese Worte in einer Zeit tiefer Verunsicherung. Die Angst vor der Pandemie hat uns im Griff. Was früher selbstverständlich war, ist jetzt nicht mehr möglich. Und es ist, wie es im biblischen Wort heißt: Ein Wirbelsturm bläst uns an, Lebenspläne werden durcheinandergewirbelt, Existenzen bedroht durch Arbeitslosigkeit und Konkurs. In Vers 23 heißt es: „er gibt die Fürsten preis, dass sie nichts sind“. Die Politiker/innen sind hilflos, ein winziges Virus schickt die Weltwirtschaft auf Achterbahn, und Politiker/innen und Expert/innen versuchen, gesellschaftliches Leben unter diesen Bedingungen zu managen.

„Trostbuch Israels“ – Trost und Ermutigung will dieses Wort geben, indem es uns die Macht des Schöpfers vor Augen stellt. Amen.

The power of the creator

It is he who is seated over the arch of the earth, and the people in it are as small as locusts; by him the heavens are stretched out like an arch, and made ready like a tent for a living-place. He makes rulers come to nothing; the judges of the earth are of no value. They have only now been planted, and their seed put into the earth, and they have only now taken root, when he sends out his breath over them and they become dry, and the storm-wind takes them away like dry grass.

Isaiah 40, 22-24

We read these words in times of great uncertainty. The fear of the pandemic controls us. That what used to be taken for granted is now no longer possible. It is like as the biblical text indicates: a hurricane blows at us, life plans are turned upside down, livelihoods are threatened by unemployment and bankruptcy. Verse 23 says: He makes rulers come to nothing. The politicians are helpless, a tiny virus sends the global economy in a roller coaster and politicians and experts try to manage the social life under these conditions.

“comfort book of Israel” – this book is intended to give comfort and encouragement, by reminding us the power of the creator. Amen.
