Andacht – Kehrt um!

Der Storch unter dem Himmel weiß seine Zeit, Turteltaube, Schwalbe und Drossel halten die Zeit ein, in der sie wiederkommen sollen; aber mein Volk will das Recht des HERRN nicht wissen.

Jer 8,7

 

Die Zugvögel kommen aus den wärmeren Ländern zu uns zurück, bringen ihre Nester in Ordnung und brüten. Für uns Menschen bedeutet ihre Nähe ein Stück „heile Welt“. Der Storch, der über uns hinfliegt: Kann uns seine Gegenwart trotzdem etwas vermitteln, etwas „sagen“?

Der Prophet Jeremia fragt uns: Warum seid ihr klugen Menschen so stur, wendet dem lebendigen Gott euren Rücken zu und merkt nicht, dass die Welt aus den Fugen gerät? Kehrt um, tut Buße, ehe es zu spät ist. Gott ist eure Zukunft!

Even the stork in the heavens knows her times, and the turtledove, swallow, and crane keep the time of their coming, but my people know not the rules of the Lord.

Jer 8,7

 

The birds are migrating from the warmer regions back to our places, they mend their nests and start breeding. We humans see in their behavior a piece of realized peace: Free birds living with us together. Can their presence mean anything to us?

The Prophet Jeremia asks us: Why are you clever people so blind, turn your back to God, and do not realize that the world is in big trouble?

Turn around and repent before it is to late. The Lord is your future!
