Andacht – Vergewisserung und Hoffnung

 

Von all dem Guten, das der HERR dem Haus Israel zugesagt hatte, war nichts dahingefallen; alles war eingetroffen. Josua 21, 45

 

Das heißt natürlich nicht, dass damit die ganze Arbeit schon getan war. Die Geschichte des Volkes Gottes ging weiter – und sie geht auch heute weiter.

Aber es ist doch gut, immer wieder das bereits mit Gottes Hilfe Erreichte festzuhalten, sich zu vergewissern, und daraus Hoffnung und Mut für den weiteren Weg zu schöpfen.

Als Einrichtung unserer Landeskirche haben wir bei Mission EineWelt das zum Beispiel mit der „Konzeption der Außenbeziehungen“ gemacht. Privat tue ich das, wenn ich am Morgen beim ersten Schritt ins Freie tief durchatme, egal ob bei Sonne oder Regen, und ein kleines Stoßgebet nach oben schicke: „Wie schön, mein Gott, danke für frische Luft – danke, dass ich leben darf!“

That does not mean, of course, that all the work was done. The story of God’s people continued – and it continues today.

But it is good, after all, to record from time to time what has already been achieved with God’s help, to make sure of it, and to draw from it hope and courage for the way ahead.

As an institution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria, we in Mission OneWorld have done this, for example, with the „Policy Statement on Foreign Relations“. In my private life I do this when I take a deep breath in the morning after leaving my house, no matter if it rains or the sun shines, and say a small prayer: „Thank you, Lord, for fresh air – thank you for the gift of life!
