- Guiding principles of Mission OneWorld
Mission OneWorld is the Centre for Partnership, Development and Mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria. Called by God to his mission, we encourage others to bear witness to the message of faith, hope and love of Jesus Christ.
We develop and strengthen partnerships with Lutheran churches in Africa, Latin America, East Asia, and the Pacific through interaction, personnel exchange, and financial support. We engage in continuous dialogue with our partners, supporting their concerns and promoting ecumenical and global learning.
We send personnel from Germany to work in our overseas partner churches, and we welcome ecumenical co-workers from our partner churches to work in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria. We do this in solidarity with all those with whom we live and work.
We take responsibility for implementing human rights, promote Christian values worldwide and collaborate with our partners to achieve justice, peace and the preservation of God’s one world. - Type of position and location
Mission OneWorld is looking to appoint an ecumenical co-worker to our Department of Global Learning, to work in the field of intercultural and political awareness building. We invite our global partners to propose applicants for this position. The position will be located within the Department of Global Education at Mission OneWorld in Neuendettelsau and Nuremberg. - Objective
Our objective is to strengthen intercultural and development education work and in particular address the topics of anti-racism, decolonisation, interreligious dialogue and intercultural understanding.
Specifically, formats are developed and implemented to support sensitivity and awareness of the consequences of colonial pasts and current post-colonial entanglements.
Cultural exchange in post-colonial perspectives is supported, and sensitivity against racism and projects to support anti-racist strategies are also strengthened. - Responsibilities and Tasks
– Preparation and presentation of educational events to the above-mentioned topics (seminars, meetings, lectures, workshops).
– Prepare and give presentations upon invitation of church-groups or other interested organisations in Bavaria.
– Information work in the public.
– Conception, revision, preparation and use of educational material for global learning.
– Supporting the study program of students from Africa, Latin America and Asia. - Teamwork
Within the organisation the successful candidate will work closely together with all the employees of the Department of Global Learning as well as with colleagues of Mission OneWorld in other departments. - Qualifications/expectations
– Member or staff of a partner church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria.
– University degree in at least one of the following areas: Theology, law, social pedagogy, educational science, political science or similar.
– Documented experience in the above-mentioned topics as well as in adult education, and advocacy work.
– Knowledge, skills and experience of all regular computer programs, such as word, excel, outlook etc.
– Good team and social skills.
– Good to very good German language skills. - Further Information
The position will be filled as of September 1, 2025 or later. A contract for a 3-years period will be provided. A prolongation for further 2 years is possible.
