Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry he fills with good things.

Ps 107,1-3 + 8-9

You can find this idea more often in the Old Testament that people from all directions come together to worship god. It’s the so called ‘migration of peoples to the Zion’. It means, they accept god and want to contact him. They take him seriously and expect guidance. They know, this earth belongs to god and according to that we should treat his creation. This idea expresses that all human beings from all cardinal points should be worth equal and have the same right, that they can live well. This is challenging us to care for this, too. God redeems us out of trouble, as it is noticed in this psalm. This is meant in the same way for our souls and our bodies. We can be careful that there are equal conditions for all of us. Then we will be able to praise god together when our troubles went away. Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!
